About RTF
The Refugee Task Force (RTF) was initiated under the AMA umbrella in September 2021, to manage and coordinate the Arizona Muslim community’s response to the Afghan resettlement project—especially to support the large number of displaced Afghans joining our community. The RTF mobilizes AMA's member organizations as a unified force to efficiently and effectively cater to the resettlement needs of refugees. The Refugee Task Force consists of representatives from more than 20 community-wide Muslim non-profit organizations, between Phoenix and Tucson.
What We Do
RTF's initiatives focus on ways to best help transition incoming refugees into our community. We raise awareness, organize volunteers, host community-wide drives, and raise funds from within our state-wide networks, to address the needs of these displaced families. Though our service opportunities continue to evolve and grow, our community of organizations have thus far been able to benefit these refugee families in the following areas of support:
- Project Management
- Religious & Spiritual Services
- Health & Wellness
- Food/Groceries & Hygiene
- Refugee Clothing Closet
- Furniture & Household Items
- Real Estate & Housing
- Education & Training & Related Electronics
- Language Translation Services
- Cultural Orientation & Coordination
- Legal & Immigration Connections
- Employment Services
- Family Outreach Program
- Foster Care & Youth Services
